27 May 2025, Guam - The Philippine Consulate General in Guam (Agana PCG) participated in this year’s celebration of the Santacruzan organized by the Filipino Ladies Association of Guam (FLAG) on 24 May 2025 at the Micronesia Mall in Dededo, Guam.
Santacruzan is one of the most anticipated cultural events in Guam as many of its participants are prominent members of the Guam society, which includes members of the Guam legislature, socio-civic leaders and the officers and members of the Filipino community. This year’s participants included Guam Acting Governor Joshua Tenorio, members of the 38th Guam Legislature, socio-civic leaders and the officers and members of the Filipino community.
In his remarks, Consul Joaquin Ricardo R. Aragon highlighted the importance of the Santacruzan in Filipino culture to the attendees of the event. Furthermore, he remarked, “May this event continue to inspire our younger generations to embrace and uphold the values of pananampalataya (faith), pagkakaisa (unity), and pagmamahal sa kultura (love of culture). Let us carry forward the beauty and meaning of our traditions—not only as a memory of the past but as a living expression of who we are.” This message was especially meaningful as the event formed part of the celebration of Philippine Heritage Month, also celebrated in May, which aims to preserve and honor the richness of Filipino culture and history.
The FLAG received a commendation from the 38th Guam Legislature, authored by Senator and Majority Whip Shelly Calvo, for the hard work and commitment of its officers and members in organizing the yearly celebration of the Santacruzan. They continue to succeed in serving a beautiful reminder of Guam’s rich multi-cultural identity. They have been in the Guam community helping to preserve Filipino traditions and culture and forge strong bonds of friendship with the people of Guam.
Mary Miel S. Masculino, the daughter of Agana PCG staff Ms. Mary Joyce S. Masculino, represented the Consulate General and participated as Reyna De Las Flores in this year’s Santacruzan. She was joined by Agana PCG officers and staff together with their dependents during the procession. END
