05 May 2025, Guam - Consul Joaquin Ricardo Aragon of the Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam attended the Eskwelahang Munti ng Guam’s (EMG) Graduation Ceremony on 03 May 2025 at Guam Reef Hotel.

In his remarks, Consul Joaquin Ricardo R. Aragon expressed the Consulate’s gratitude to the Filipino Cultural Center (FCC) headed by Mr. Monito Co for spearheading the reopening of the Eskwelahang Munti ng Guam in October last year. He emphasized the importance of FCC’s role in promoting the Filipino language and culture program on the island so that children with Filipino descent can stay connected to their roots, helping preserve their Filipino heritage and identity.

EMG’s program provides young Filipino-Americans on Guam the opportunity to learn the Filipino language and culture through interactive activities, such as learning basic vocabulary and conversational Filipino, singing Filipino songs, and learning how to perform Philippine dances gracefully. 

Ten (10) students aged six to eight and six (6) students aged nine to seventeen successfully graduated from this year’s first semester.

During the program, the students rendered several musical performances of Sampung Mga Daliri; Paa, Tuhod,  Balikat Ulo; Chikading and enjoyed dancing the Tinikling.

Guam Senator and Majority Whip Shelly Calvo and Senator William Parkison attended the event with prominent members of the Filipino Community of Guam. Senator Parkinson distributed the certificates to the graduating students, while Senator Calvo congratulated and joined the students during their performance of Tinikling.

EMG will conduct its next Filipino language classes from September to December 2025. Classes will be held every Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00nn and will be taught by volunteer teachers from the Filipino Community Center, under the leadership of Principal Gloria Baguinon.
