Eskwelahang Munti ng Guam Reopens at Sentro Rizal, Agana
14 October 2024, Guam - The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, in partnership with the Filipino Cultural Center (FCC) and the Filipino Community of Guam (FCG), has reopened Eskwelahang Munti ng Guam (EMG) on 05 October 2024 at Sentro Rizal Agana.
In his welcoming remarks during the reopening ceremony of the EMG, Consul Joaquin Ricardo R. Aragon underscored the importance of having a Filipino language and culture program on the island so that children with Filipino descent stay connected to their roots, stating “Today marks a wonderful occasion as we bring back a program that promotes the Filipino language and culture to the younger generation, helping preserve their Filipino heritage and identity.”
After being paused since 2020 due to the pandemic, the program now provides young Filipino-Americans the opportunity to learn the Filipino language and culture through interactive activities, such as learning basic vocabulary and conversational Filipino, singing, dancing, and the arts.
EMG classes will be conducted for nine (9) Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN from 05 October - 07 December 2024 at the Sentro Rizal Agana by volunteer teachers from the FCC led by Principal Gloria Baguinon, Ms. Ciony Viray, Ms. Lory Castelo and Ms. Shirley Trinidad.
The FCC is still accepting enrollees for the program. For those interested to participate, please contact Ms. Gloria Baguinon at +1(671) 686-5871. END
